Happy Ever After at the Belmont Mansion
The Belmont Mansion has got to be one of the coolest locations to get married at in Nashville. From the historic architecture and pillars to the gazebo to the hardwood floors, this mansion is spectacular. Because it is a smaller venue, it creates a very intimate feeling to the wedding. There is also a lot of history behind the Belmont Mansion. It is the home of Joseph and Adelicia Acklen. The mansion was built in 1849 and it was considered one of the most elegant country houses in all Tennessee. The Acklens did not want the Belmont to be a planation so instead of being surrounded by cotton fields only lavish landscapes surrounded the mansion. The Belmont was designed mainly to be a party palace. To this day, the Belmont still is considered a historic landmark with its beautiful architecture and landscape.
Being able to capture a wedding at the Belmont is spectacular. I had the honor of photography James and Katie’s wedding there. Not only does the mansion have a beautiful exterior, the interior is gorgeous as well. They have kept up with the historic decorating instead of updating. James and Katie decided to have a first look and it was a very special moment for them at the gazebo. Being able to capture the expression on James’ face when he saw Katie in her dress was amazing. The bride’s room was upstairs so when it was time for the ceremony to start, she began walking down the elaborate staircase. At that moment, everyone stood and watched as she and her father walked down the aisle to her husband. As they said their vows and shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the celebrations began. The love between these two is apparent for all to see so with the twinkling of the lights, they had their happy ever after at the Belmont Mansion.
